From our anchorage in Ekimcik we went with a local fisherman to see where the Loggerhead turtles come every May and Sept to lay their eggs. The beach is protected by green peace and is not accessible after dark so as to not disturb the turtles. Third picture from top shows the Green peace buildings. They also help the baby turtles to make it to the sea once they hatch.
After the beach we came through a marshy area (next two pictures) and eventually ended up in a town called Dalyan which is famous for the tombs carved out of the rock by the Lycian people who lived there 300 BC. We were told it would take 25 years to finish one tomb.
