Not only do we meet much ocean going or coming ships, but also on the inland water it is very busy.
We traveled along a route that meets up with the "Schelde-Rijn canal and it is not uncommon to see 12 or 13 inland freighters in one mile. These ships carry up to 3000 ton of freight, and you can see any kind of freight from sand, gravel, coal, scrap, oil, or containers.
