Marstrand Sweden

After "Elida" set sail for a different port we got to lay along side of the pier in behind a two mast schooner.

We got to know the captain and he offered much information that was very useful for our cruise north.

We continued with our walk around the island.

The scenery was spectacular!!!

This group of teenagers were going to have a BBQ. They were trying to open a can of sweet corn by smashing it against the rock with great force. Lucky for them the can only got dented and did not burst open or they would have had corn all over the rocks. I offered my handy dandy multi tool which had a can opener on it. It worked and they were grateful.

It seems like the thing to do in Sweden on a sunny week end is to find a nice spot somewhere on the rock and have a picnic, or a BBQ. Or just enjoy the sun after a long winter.

This is the young son of the captain.

He did not know any English, and I did not know any Swedish, but we got along just fine.

When we arrived in Marstrand there was no room left to dock along side. (more about docking later) So we found yourself asking to dock along side this 123 ft sail boat called "Elida" ( Also our granddaughter's name)This is a non denominational mission ship dedicated to reaching teenagers for Christ. We were fortunate to lay beside her and get to know some of the people on board,

From Gotenborg to Marstrand
